Vista Wealth + Protection was founded by Guy Buchanan and David Pottinger with a shared belief that financial advice should feel more connected, personal, and built around real relationships. By bringing together expertise across insurance, KiwiSaver, and investments, Vista was created to give everyday Kiwis clearer guidance, trusted support, and confidence in every stage of their financial journey.

David Pottinger
Director + Financial Adviser
David Pottinger is a Qualified Financial Adviser specialising in Personal Risk and KiwiSaver advice since 2016.
Born and raised in Canterbury, David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury and the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5.
He is passionate about helping individuals, families, and business owners protect what matters most.

Family was a key influence in David’s decision to move into financial advice, having seen firsthand the difference good insurance and financial planning can make during difficult times.
He particularly enjoys supporting clients through the claims process and building long-term relationships based on trust and genuine care.
David lives in Christchurch with his wife Kylie, their three children, and family dog Koby. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching rugby, spending time outdoors, and making the most of family life and time with friends.

Guy started his career as a specialist risk adviser in 2007 and has since used his skills, experience, and passion to build long-term relationships with clients across New Zealand.
Guy lives in Christchurch, is married to Niamh and has two young children.

Outside of work, Guy enjoys running, tennis, skiing and family camping holidays.

Liam Ambrose
KiwiSaver + Investment Adviser
Liam graduated with a business degree in Leeds back in 2013, moved to New Zealand shortly after and has proudly called Christchurch home for 12 years.
Before attaining the Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services and moving into investment advice, Liam spent much of his career as an operations manager in the events industry, travelling across the South Island and helping bring some of the country's largest events to Hagley Park.
